Who I am

I am Baptiste Boileau, an upholsterer guided by passion, precision, and an endless curiosity for beauty in craftsmanship.

My story began in Paris, where I trained in the only workshop in France devoted exclusively to 1970s design — restoring masterpieces by Ray & Charles Eames, Pierre Paulin, Marcel Breuer, Verner Panton, Le Corbusier, Marco Zanuso, Olivier Mourgue, and Warren Platner… . It was there that I developed a deep respect for design heritage and the art of timeless form.

I then pursued the traditional art of hand upholstery, mastering antique techniques that demand patience, care, and the human touch.

My time with HERMÈS introduced me to the discipline of luxury craftsmanship and the pursuit of perfection in every detail. This philosophy guided me to New York, where I joined Jouffre, one of the most respected ateliers in the world. Working on high-end residential and hospitality projects for globally renowned designers and architects.

My journey continued to Australia, a land I had dreamt of since childhood. After enriching experiences in Perth and Melbourne, including four years as Head of Research and Development at Jardan, I have now settled in Sydney — a city that inspires a new chapter of creation, where artistry, innovation, and elegance meet.

Each piece I create carries the essence of this journey — from Parisian savoir-faire to New York sophistication and Australian freedom.
